Prof. Sunil Bhandari graduated from the University of Edinburgh and got trained in Renal and Transplant Medicine in Yorkshire (UK) and Sydney, Australia. He is a full-time Consultant in Nephrology and an Honorary Professor at Hull York Medical School (HYMS) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Dr. Bhandari is also the Vice President of the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh (RCPE) and the Deputy Head of the School of Postgraduate Medicine, Health Education, Yorkshire and The Humber. He also holds the positions of Co-chair of the UK Kidney Research Consortium and Co-director of the UK Advanced Nephrology course for trainees. Dr. Bhandari is the Chair and the Examiner for the International PACES Examinations throughout Asia and the Middle East and a question writer for the Specialist Exam (SCE) in Kidney Medicine. His research examines important questions to improve patient outcomes and delay kidney progression (NEJM 2022) and optimize the management of anemia of chronic kidney disease. He is also the co-author of the UK Guidelines on the use of SGLT2 inhibitors in kidney patients and in anemia management. He is a co-author of the UK guidelines for the use of SGLT2 inhibitors in kidney patients and anemia management.
