Anuja Premawardhena is Senior Professor in Medicine and Head of the Adolescent and Adult Thalassaemia Clinical Unit and the associated laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Kelaniya Sri Lanka. He is a Specialist Physician (Internal Medicine) attached to the North Colombo (Teaching) Hospital Ragama Sri Lanka. His research interests are in haemoglobinopathies and Iron overload. As of 2023 his research publication statistics were: H index 24 and i 10 index of 42. He is a regular examiner in undergraduate and post graduate examinations (MD- General Medicine) and is also a RCP PACES examiner.
