Eric Livingston graduated from the University of Aberdeen Medical School in 1997 and trained in Respiratory Medicine in the West of Scotland. He obtained his MD from University of Glasgow in 2005. He is a Consultant Respiratory Physician at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, specialising in Sleep Disorders.

He is heavily involved in medical education, being a Training Programme Director for Respiratory Medicine, and a Foundation Programme Director in the West Region of the Scotland Deanery. He was Deputy Director of Medical Education at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. He is the College examiner representative on the Clinical Examining Board for MRCP UK and is an active host and PACES examiner.

He is Vice President (Medical) at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow.
