Prof. Karunanayake is a Professor in Clinical Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.   He is an Examiner in the MRCP (UK) PACES Examination, as well as in the MD Medicine Examination of the University of Colombo where he had also been a Chief Examiner.   He is a Former Secretary of the Board of Study in Medicine, Postgraduate Institute of Medicine, University of Colombo; Past President of the Ceylon College of Physicians; and Past Vice-President of the Sri Lanka Medical Association. Professor Karunanayake’s area of research interest in clinical medicine is infectious disease, where he has published papers on dengue, leptospirosis and visceral leishmaniasis. He also has an abiding interest in Higher Education Pedagogy, Medical Social Sciences and Medical Humanities.
